For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in all things self-help – in finding ways to feel better and “fix” what felt like it was broken in my life. I’ve also always been drawn to what I called “meaningful conversations” – talking with people about the things that mattered, the things that hurt, the things that were uncomfortable. And though my formal career was in Information Technology, the most memorable times were when colleagues would come to me with their discomforts and I would listen and let them know what I was hearing, giving them suggestions for what might relieve the discomfort.
It took me a while to connect the dots and see that Life Coaching was what I really wanted to do. I was laid off from my most recent corporate job in August 2010 and after the dust settled, I knew that it was time to sign up for life coach training.
That turned out to be the best gift I’ve ever given myself. For me, the best part of the Martha Beck Training Program was getting to work through my own issues – with the help of wonderful mentors and my talented fellow trainees.
Looking back over the years since that traumatic lay-off in 2010, I marvel at how my life has become so much more aligned to who I am and what I want to be doing with my time. There are few things that match the wonder of getting to share what I’ve learned with my coaching clients. I find so much joy and satisfaction in helping them examine the discomfort, see their own power, and then transform obstacles into Ease and Flow. My new life and business are turning out to be far more magical than anything I could ever have imagined.
